── The Last Samurai within you quietly awakens. ──
Even when you see signs advertising a “SAMURAI EXPERIENCE” while traveling, there are
very few places where you can actually hold a real Japanese sword.Experiences that
are only about taking photos cannot reach the depths of the heartor convey the
feeling of the “real Japan.”
── Sharp and silent. The spirit of the “Last Samurai,” who devoted their lives to a
single decisive strike. We want you to feel that spirit with your own hands. ──
Everyone has dreamed of it at least once. The Japanese warrior who lives with
strength, beauty, and quiet resolve. The image of the “Last Samurai” seen in filmsis
not merely a story of the past. That spirit is still alive—here and now. What Okinawa
Hotel offers is a 60-minute journeythrough a real sword, a true master, and an
authentic spirit, where you yourself become a samurai.
A tradition that carries on the ancient way of Bushido —Kosen
Hachimanden-ryu Practical Batto-jutsu.Iaido, etiquette, breathing, and a single decisive
strike. You put on the hakama, learn how to handle the sword from a master, progressing
from a wooden sword to a practice sword, and finally to a real Japanese sword. In the
final test cutting, within the silence, you hear the sound of the blade cutting through
the air.In that moment, your senses sharpen—and the samurai within you begins to move.
What is Kosen Hachimanden-ryu Practical Batto-jutsu?
Kosen Hachimanden-ryu Practical Batto-jutsu is a sword art that has been
passed down through generations of the Hamamoto family. Its origins trace back to the
swordsmanship of the Wakō naval forces, who were active from the 13th to16th centuries,
based in China, the Korean Peninsula, and the coastal regions of Kyushu.Even today, this
tradition places the highest priority on “a sword art that truly cuts.”From the moment
practitioners attain their first rank, training is conducted using real Japanese swords,
focusing on formal kata practice as well as paired training with wooden swords. In addition,
a monthly “Batto-kai” is held, where practitioners perform test cutting on rolled straw
targets.Through the sword-drawing experience at Okinawa Hotel,we invite you to fully immerse
yourself in an authentic Japanese traditional culture.
